Our Wellness Staff

Sharon Minjares, MS, RD, LD - Sharon Minjares is a Registered, Licensed Dietitian. She combined her compassion of food, health and helping others in the field of nutrition. She received her Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois and Master's degree in Nutrition from Case Western Reserve University. She is the Director of the Wellness Institute at TriPoint Medical Center.

Barbara Berkeley, MD - Dr. Barbara Berkeley is a board certified internist who specializes in the care of overweight and obese patients. Dr. Berkeley holds a B.A. in writing from Barnard College and a Master's degree in education from Columbia University. She obtained her medical degree from the State University of New York/ Stony Brook and completed her residency in medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. She is the author of "Refuse to Regain: 12 Tough Rules to Maintain the Body You've Earned" (Linden Publishing).  Currently, she serves as the Medical Director of Weight Management Services at Lake Health.

Lori Stevic-Rust, PhD, ABPP - Lori Stevic-Rust, PhD, ABPP is a graduate of Kent State University with a doctoral degree in psychology and a master's degree in community counseling. She completed an internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit Michigan with specialty training in clinical health psychology. She has been awarded a Diplomate from the American Board of Professional Psychology in Board Certified Clinical Health Psychology (ABPP). She has co-authored three books on health topics and is a regular psychological contributor for WKYC and FOX 8. Currently, she serves as Medical Director of the Center for Integrative Medicine at Lake Health.

Susan E. Mandel, PhD, MT-BC - Susan is a board-certified music therapist, specializing in stress and pain management in medical settings.  She works as a music therapy consultant to Lake Health, where she manages the music therapy program and developed music therapy research studies in cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes education and integrative medicine.  Susan has also established two local music therapy hospice programs.  Dr. Mandel's doctoral studies focused on mind-body studies and music therapy research.  Susan is on the faculty of the School of Advanced Studies of University of Phoenix, where she teaches research and mentors doctoral students through the dissertation writing process. Susan and Dr. Suzanne Hanser co-authored the book and accompanying CD, "Manage Your Stress and Pain Through Music," published by Berklee Press. She and Daniel Kobialka recorded the CD, "Harmony of Mind and Body: A MARI Experience."

Katie Abbott, MS, RD, LD, HC - Katie Abbott is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian and a Certified Holistic Health Coach. She received her B.S. in Dietetics from James Madison University, her M.S. in Public Health Nutrition from Case Western Reserve University, and her holistic health coach training from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Katie completed her dietetic internship at Case Western Reserve University. Her interests include holistic living, whole foods, functional foods, evidence based wellness, and sustainability. As the Health Promotion Dietitian, Katie provides medical nutrition therapy, community nutrition presentations, and works with the Weight 4 Life Weight Management Program.

Karen Clifford, MEd, RD, LD - Karen is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian with a bachelors degree in Dietetics from Ohio University and a maters degree in Exercise Science from Cleveland State University.  She completed her dietetic internship at Central Michigan University.  Her interests include health and wellness, cardiac nutrition, exercise, and weight management.

Bonnie Hayhurst, MT-BC - Bonnie Hayhurst is a board certified music therapist.  She earned an undergraduate degree in psychology and completed a music therapy equivalency program and internship.  Bonnie currently serves as a music therapist in Lake Health's Integrative Medicine program, providing clinical services and assistance with research study.  Bonnie is also an accomplished pianist and enjoys teaching in her private music therapy studio.

Susan Kim, DC, CCN, CSCS - Dr. Kim is board certified in Acupuncture. She has additional certifications in Advanced Biomedical Acupuncture for pain management, sports injuries and trauma rehabilitation. Other special interests include post-surgical pain, hip pain, knee pain, back pain, anxiety and infertility.

Vaia Lappas-Gilchrist, M.Ed., DTR, CPT - Vaia is a Wellness Coach and Exercise Physiologist for Lake Health.  She has her Master's Degree in Exercise Science and a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition Health and Fitness from Cleveland State University. She is also a Registered Dietetic Technician (with the American Dietetic Association), a Certified Personal Trainer, and Group Exercise Instructor. She has been in the nutrition  and fitness field for over 20 years and has worked in various settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, fitness centers, corporate wellness and spas, providing nutrition and exercise education to a varied population.

Anne Owens BSN, MA, RYT 200, Reiki Master - Anne Owens is a registered yoga teacher and Reiki Master. She is a graduate of Ursuline College where she received a bachelors degree in nursing, and Case Western Reserve University where she completed a masters in medical illustration. Her yoga certification is from TRY4LIFE and she studied Reiki with Jan Hauestein and Sister Ann Winters. She has a special interest in therapeutic yoga and energy medicine.

Marian Petersen RD, LD, CNSD - Marian Petersen is a graduate of Kent State University. She completed her Dietetics Internship at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and is a Certified Nutrition Support Dietitian (CNSD) through ASPEN, The American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition. She has worked at Lake Health for the last 17 years as a Clinical Dietitian. She is also currently involved with Lake Health Wellness Institute as a Wellness Coach, and as an outpatient weight loss educator.  Marian is a Reiki Master and a student of Healing Touch.

Ellen Shetler, MT-BC - Ellen Shetler is a board certified music therapist.  She earned a bachelor's of music degree in music therapy and completed her internship in a medical center.  Ellen currently serves as a music therapist in Lake Health's Integrative Medicine program, providing clinical services and assistance with research study, as well as providing music therapy services to Willoughby Fine Arts Association.  She is a gifted vocalist, guitarist, and pianist.

Lori Shrock, LMT - Lori Shrock is Licensed by Ohio State Medical Board and Lakeland Massage Therapy Program Certificate. She has additional certifications in Prenatal Massage, Myofascial Release, and CranioSacral Therapy. Also providing Relaxation Massage, Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Prenatal Massage, Chair Massage and Sports Massage at the Wellness Institute.

Michelle Sito, MS, ATC, HFS - Michelle Sito is a graduate of the University of Florida where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences with a concentration in Athletic Training. She earned a Master of Science degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Sports Administration from Mississippi State University. She is a Certified Athletic Trainer through NATABOC and Certified Health Fitness Specialist through ACSM. She also completed a level 1 training through YogaFit.

Judith Stricker, LMT - Judith Stricker is a medical board licensed massage therapist.  She received her training at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio.  She is also certified in Active Release Therapy, AIS (Active Isolated Stretching) technique.  In addition to relaxation, Swedish, and deep tissue massage, she specializes in medical massage, prenatal massage, and special needs massage servicing patients and clients with ms, md, cerebral palsy, and stroke patients.  She also specializes in sports massage, and works for the Cleveland Browns Football team, and the Cleveland Indians Baseball team.  Judith works for Lake Health, performing medical inpatient massage therapy at Tripoint and West medical centers, and also outpatient massage therapy in the Wellness Institute located in the Physician Pavilion at Tripoint Medical Center.
