Pain Management

We Understand Pain

Over 50 million Americans live with chronic pain; you don’t have to be one of them.

Chronic pain changes your life. It impacts your personal relationships, causes you difficulty at work, affects your emotional well-being, and forces you to adjust your day-to-day activities. You don’t have to live with chronic pain. The Lake Health Center for Pain Management can help you regain control of your life.

By definition, chronic pain lasts six months or more. Often, the source is difficult to identify. In fact, many health care professionals don’t know how to treat pain, according to the American Pain Foundation. This leads to pain being untreated, under-treated, or improperly treated.

At the Lake Health Center for Pain Management we understand pain and how it affects you. We understand your anxieties about pain. We won’t just treat your pain, we will help you understand it and cope with it.

The Resources You Deserve

At the Lake Health Center for Pain Management, we offer a multidisciplinary approach. We start by evaluating and assessing you and your pain. Then, we design a treatment plan that works best for you. That might include one or more of the following options:

  • Aquatic therapy
  • Biofeedback therapy
  • Dietary and nutritional counseling
  • Electrical nerve stimulation (TENS)
  • Electrical therapy treatment
  • Exercise
  • Hypnosis
  • Interdisciplinary rehabilitation
  • Intravenous perfusion blocks
  • Massage therapy
  • Medications and/or medication management
  • Nerve blocks
  • Nerve freezing procedures
  • Occupational therapy
  • Physical therapy
  • Psychological counseling
  • Relaxation techniques
  • Surgical options

Perhaps you’ve tried one or more of these treatments in the past without success. If so, don’t be discouraged. Research shows that chronic pain responds best to a combination of two or more therapies. In fact, the American Chronic Pain Association recommends a multidisciplinary approach to chronic pain management.

“We involve many professionals in your care,” points out Dr. Pahr. “Not every patient responds to every treatment. We’ll design a program that works best for you, even if that requires some trial and error. We’ll help you meet your goals, whether that’s being able to play with your grandchildren, getting back to work, or being able to dance again.”

The Lake Health Center for Pain Management is located within the Mentor Campus. Under the same roof, you’ll find easy access to laboratory testing, X-ray, MRI, and the Mentor Surgery Center . The Center for Pain Management accepts most major insurance plans.
