Good Call!

Lake Health offers a 24/7 Sports Injury Hotline for residents of Lake County and surrounding areas. When you suffer a sports injury, call 1-866-247-4806 for immediate advice. A sports medicine adviser will tell you whether you should treat the injury yourself, go to the Emergency Department, or see your physician. If you don’t have a physician, the adviser will arrange a next-day appointment with a doctor in our sports medicine network.

If your physician recommends diagnostic testing, Lake Health offers the most advanced imaging technology available today. Our capabilities include a powerful MRI, a state-of-the-art open MRI, and a 16-slice CT scanner that produces detailed images that can be reconstructed in three dimensions. We also offer the convenience of general X-rays without an appointment.

If your injury requires physical therapy, you’l l be in good hands with our sports medicine therapists. In addition to personalized therapy programs, we offer hand therapy, aquatic therapy, our personalized Performance Enhancement Camps (PECs) program, and a golf program to reduce injuries and increase flexibility.

If your injury requires surgery–whether it’s minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery or total joint replacement–the physicians in our sports medicine network offer innovative surgical techniques designed to produce quicker recovery, less pain, and less scarring.

Athletic Training Services

Lake Health provides athletic training services to Mentor High School, Harvey High School, Riverside High School, Eastlake North High School, Perry High School, Madison High School, Kirtland High School, Andrews-Osborne Academy, Lakeland Community College, Willoughby South High School, Geneva High School, and Fairport Harding High School. Also Lake Health athletic trainers provide services for numerous community events including the Captain’s 5K, the Johnnycake Jog, the GLBL Memorial Day Tournament, and the Mentor Firecracker Tournament.

Athletic trainers are medical experts in preventing, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries that result from physical activity. Athletic trainers can help you avoid unnecessary medical treatment and disruption of normal daily life; if you’re injured, they can get you on the mend and keep you on the move. While covering the schools the athletic trainer utilizes his or her expertise to give seamless medical practice to all of the active individuals through a medical team approach. This team includes physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and nurses working for Lake Health.

The athletic trainers at Lake Health are also involved with numerous other programming opportunities including setting up physicals, state mandated coaching education sessions, and the performance of the Performance Enhancement Camps (PECs).

The PECs program is a program designed to help everyone become more fit. Sports Medicine experts offer group and one-on-one sports conditioning and fitness programming. Whether you are an athlete who wants to gain a competitive edge, a weekend warrior who wants to improve his or her fitness level, someone who has just “graduated” from physical therapy, or a couch potato who wants to get in shape, we have a program for you. The program is individually designed through the use of pre-testing and goal setting. From this initial set-up a program is designed for you using state-of-the-art fitness techniques to help you meet your goals.
