Men's Health

Man Up—Get Tested!

It’s a fact: Men are much less vigilant about going to the doctor than are women. A study conducted by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) indicated that more than half of the men surveyed reported they had not gone to their physician for a regular exam within the past year.

Such reluctance can have fatal consequences. Many of the major health risks that men face - such as prostate and skin cancers - can be prevented or treated more successfully with an early diagnosis. That's why having regular checkups and screenings is important. What you don't know, you can't fix. Don't be afraid to have the tests and screenings you need.

Lake Health offers a pocket guide - a "scheduled maintenance" manual for men, just like the one that came with your car. Schedule the important health tests and screenings recommended in the manual and use it to keep track of all your parts. You'll be surprised how much more mileage you'll get and how much smoother the ride will be along the way.

It's up to you: make a few simple changes, enjoy life, stay stronger and be around for the people who matter most to you.
