Lake Health Rehabilitation
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists are trained to help people lead as independent a life as possible.
After an accident, injury, or illness, you might lose some function. Occupational therapists focus on helping you strengthen or relearn the skills needed for activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and cooking. Occupational therapists also suggest adaptive equipment to help you perform tasks more easily and make recommendations for keeping your environment safe.
Occupational therapists provide the following services:
- Recommend equipment for the home that can help you complete tasks, such as dressing, bathing, preparing meals, and driving.
- Fabricate a customized splint to improve hand function.
- Evaluate your home for safety hazards and adapt the home by removing hazards that could cause further injury.
- Provide training that improves the ability to complete daily tasks.
- Build your physical endurance and strength.
- Help you compensate for vision and memory loss.
- Provide activities that rebuild self-confidence and self-esteem.
