Emotional wellness is an important part of overall health and wellness. It involves an awareness and acceptance of one's own feelings and the feelings of others. Being able to express and manage your feelings effectively allows you to maintain good mental health, a positive attitude, high self-esteem, and positive relationships with others. You will understand the need to manage life independently while at the same time accepting and appreciating the support and assistance of others. When confronting the stressors that everyday life brings, emotional wellness helps you face challenges in a hopeful, optimistic way.

Tips to increase emotional wellness:

  • Think positively
  • Participate in self esteem workshops or support groups
  • Spend time with friends and/or family being supportive and nonjudgmental of each others needs
  • Learn to manage time and stress levels
  • Read a self help book that interests you
  • Make an effort to smile as much as possible
