Quicker Check-in In early 2012, West Medical Center will introduce registration kiosks in Outpatient Registration and Radiology. The kiosks offer more privacy, a faster check-in process, more accurate patient information, and a shorter wait. Pre-register online to make check-in even quicker, and remember to bring your physician order.
Introducing Aquatic Therapy Lake Health and the YMCA have teamed up to provide aquatic physical therapy. Leasing pool space at the West End Y in Willoughby, Lake Health is offering the therapy with treatment programs individually designed to address each patient's specific needs and goals.

Lake Health President and CEO Cynthia Moore-Hardy, Named to Becker's Hospital Review's List of Leaders to Know

Concord Township, Ohio, September 28, 2011 - Becker's Hospital Review has named Cynthia Moore – Hardy, FACHE, president and chief executive officer of Lake Health, to its annual list of  Leaders to Know, which recognizes individuals leading prominent American health care organizations.

The list includes 291 health system leaders from across the country recognized for their accomplishments, extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of the health care industry.  According to Becker's "These men and women continue to guide their respective organizations through change and innovation."

Ms. Moore-Hardy joined Lake Health in 1988 and was appointed president and CEO in 1997. Prior to her appointment as president and CEO, she served as the system's executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Ms. Moore-Hardy is a member and a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the American Hospital Association, where she serves as an alternate delegate to the Regional Policy Board. She serves on numerous boards including Fifth Third Bank, Leadership Lake County, the Alzheimer's Association Professional Advisory Board, the Holden Arboretum, and the Cleveland Food Bank.  Ms. Moore-Hardy was the 2011 chair of the American Heart Association's Lake and Geauga Counties Start! Heart Walk. 

Among her recent awards are Modern Healthcare's Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare; American College of Healthcare Executives Regent's Award; VNA Distinguished Woman in Healthcare; Inside Business Power 100 list; Crain's Cleveland Business Woman of Note; Leadership Lake County Leader of the Year; Cleveland State University's Outstanding Alumnus of the Nance School of Business, and the YWCA Woman of Achievement Award.

Lake Health Presents- Get to Know Your Numbers: Keep Your Cardiac Health in Line

CONCORD TWP., September 28, 2011 - You've heard it before: prevention is your best defense against cardiovascular disease so join Lake Health at its annual cardiac event Get to Know Your Numbers: Keep Your Cardiac Health in Line on Saturday, October 8, 2011 from
8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, LaMalfa. 

By knowing your numbers (cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure), all of which increase your chances of a heart attack, you can act early to minimize your risk and live longer.  By understanding what your numbers mean, you can make appropriate lifestyle changes to keep your heart healthy for a lifetime.

The highlight of the event will be keynote presenter Chef Tami J. Cecil of Woodhaven Farms, author and ONN Cooking Show Host.  During her cooking demonstration attendees will learn how to easily incorporate heart and healthy cooking into their lifestyle.  Chef Tami J. Cecil will show participants how simple it is to create tasty healthy versions of their favorite recipes and not add time in the kitchen.  Participants will then taste what is being prepared in front of them and take home the recipes.

The event will also feature a healthy continental breakfast; cardiac screenings to include body mass index, blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose; peripheral vascular disease screenings; and exhibits featuring nutrition, diabetes, and more.  Attendees can also participate in several breakout sessions:

Lake Health Foundation to Host "Glitz 2011: Cruise into Good Health!"

CONCORD TOWNSHIP, Ohio, September 23, 2011 - Lake Health Foundation will host "Glitz 2011: Cruise into Good Health!" on Saturday, October 29, 2011, 6:00 p.m. - 12:30 a.m., at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites LaMalfa.  Celebrate Lake County and our contiguous communities becoming the healthiest in Ohio by driving a legacy of wellness through philanthropic development of Lake Health resources.   

This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the Glitz, Lake Health Foundation's largest annual fundraiser.  Each year, members of the community and Lake Health physicians and team members attend the Glitz to support Lake County's progressive, community-based health system. The funds raised at the event will help to support Lake Health's ongoing mission to provide comprehensive health care services to the residents of Lake County and neighboring communities in partnership with those who share a commitment to local access, healing with compassion and superior quality.

This year's Glitz will feature an evening filled with Caribbean flair beginning with the sounds of the University of Akron Steel Drum Band.  Guests may choose to participate in a Margaritaville celebration featuring exclusive margaritas and hors d'oeurves, with an opportunity to win an exquisite South Seas pearl necklace donated by Ludy Cook.  The silent auction will feature a menagerie of items such as a wine cooler which includes wine, a six-month membership to the Lake County YMCA, a Lincoln Electric Welder, a 7 -10 day trip to Brussels, Belgium, and more!

Lake Health and Fitworks Partner to Host Blood Drives

CONCORD TOWNSHIP, Ohio, September 16, 2011 - Lake Health, Fitworks and the American Red Cross will team up for a blood drive to help support area patients in need of blood. The drives will be held at the Willoughby Fitworks, 34881 Euclid Ave., and Mentor Fitworks, 9221 Mentor Ave., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, and at the Richmond Heights Fitworks, 5174 Wilson Mills Rd., on Saturday, October 1, also from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

As a thank you to all donors who support these blood drives they will receive a TRX suspension training class (a $15 value) from Fitworks and a Lake Health waterbottle.  In addition, The Vitamin Shoppe will be providing coupons for healthy shakes and drinks and TNT Tanning will provide coupons for a free spray tan to all donors.
