Wear Red for Women Breakfast and Fashion Show
PAINESVILLE, Ohio, January 9, 2009 - One in four American women will die of heart disease. Despite the statistics, most women still fail to make the connection between risk factors—such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol—and their personal risk of developing heart disease. Join Lake Health and the Women’s Center at Lakeland Community College on February 6 for a special breakfast and fashion show in support of women and the fight against heart disease.
The Wear Red for Women Breakfast and Fashion Show will be held on Friday, February 6, from 7:30 – 9 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites LaMalfa. The cost is $18 per person, $15 for LifeCycles and PWI members, or $110 for a table of eight.
Maintain your New Year’s resolution and Refuse to Regain
PAINESVILLE, Ohio, January 6, 2009 — Diets work, but what good are they if the weight returns? Statistics show that 80 to 90 percent of dieters regain every lost pound. And it’s this fact that represents the largest and least addressed problem in obesity management. The skills needed to maintain a new, smaller body size are not obvious or intuitive; they must be taught.
If you’re one of the many people who have dieted, only to watch the pounds pile back on later, please join us on Monday, January 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Molinari’s, 8900 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Dr. Barbara Berkeley, author of Refuse to Regain, will share her twelve tough rules for maintaining a new body once you’ve earned it. The event will also feature refreshments and hors d’oeuvres from her book.

National JCAHO Audio Conference
PAINESVILLE, Ohio, January XX, 2009 — Lake Health and the Lake County ADAMHS (Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services) Board have been selected by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) to host a national audio conference on February 5 that will focus on the hospital system’s successful expansion of mental health services at its emergency departments to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Like other hospital systems across the U.S., Lake Health has seen a steady increase in the number of patients with mental illnesses seeking treatment at its emergency departments, both day and night. To better meet the growing demand, Lake Health began offering around-the-clock mental health services in July 2008 through the support of a $630,000 grant from the Lake County ADAMHS Board.
